Medifast Complaints - Do I Have Any?

Unless you've been living under the rock, you probably have heard of Medifast. If you have been looking for a diet plan online, then I can just about guarantee that you've heard about them. How could you not? They are all over the place.

They are one of the biggest names in diet plans. Right up there with Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers.

As somebody who needed to lose a little weight, I decided to take the plunge and try out their service. It wasn't anything major, but I felt that I could have lost 10-15 lbs. The good news is that I was able to do it. I ended up losing 12 lbs, so I was very happy about that.

But the service is not perfect, so I figured I'd write this hub to give prospective customers a more balanced look at the service that they offer.

I'm going to provide some of the things that I really liked about the service as well as some of the complaints that i have about them.

Before I get into all of this, I just want to state that overall, I was very pleased with the service. It did exactly what it was intended to do. I can't really ask for more than that. But people should get the full story before they decide on choosing Medifast or not.

The Good

  • It Worked - It's hard to really complain about a service when it actually works. I wanted to lose a certain amount of weight and I was able to do it. I like when that happens. I'm weird like that.
  • Excellent Customer Support - Anytime I had questions about the how my diet should work, I called or emailed customer support and they were very professional, knowledgeable and quick to respond.
  • I Didn't Really Feel Like I Was On A Diet - Obviously, I had to stick with the regimen in order for me to lose weight, but I can safely say that I didn't feel constrained like I normally do when I'm on a diet. I think that's the reason why I was able to stick with it as well as I did, and why most people fail when they are on most other diets.
  • I Never Had Any Cravings - Honestly, this is the thing that I was most worried about and I am most worried about whenever I start any diet. Can it keep me from craving oreos? I can say that the Medifast plan did that. Don't get me wrong, whenever I saw a donut, I did want it, but I never felt overwhelmed by that feeling, like I used to be.
  • Enough Comfort Food - I think this is the main reason why I was able to succeed. Medifast has enough comfort foods in the right serving sizes to make this work. They understand that people need something sweet to eat during the day to keep them going, and they provide that.
  • It's Real Food - This is not the kind of diet where you eat nothing but raisin skins. You are going to be actually eating real food.
  • Diversity - Although I personally don't have any aversions to certain kinds of food, Medifast does provide a lot of alternatives if you are allergic to certain things. For example, they have options that are gluten free, safe for diabetics, vegetarian, etc....

Any Complaints?

  • Not The Cheapest Service - You will definitely find cheaper diet plans online, but I really couldn't tell you if they work or not. But I guess you get what you pay for. However, Medifast recently started a new promotion: Get 56 Free Meals, Free Shipping and 5% off! I really wish they had this promotion when I joined. I would have saved some serious dough.
  • You Are Not Going To Love Every Meal - I would love to tell you that every meal you are going to eat is going to be absolutely delicious. I can say that about 80% of the meals I ate, I really liked, 10% were just ok, and the other 10% I really didn't like. So, you can probably expect a ratio similar to that.
  • Do Some Exercise - I know some of you may not be a fan of this. I know I'm not, but I did some exercise while I was on the plan, and it helped. Nothing major, just some walks, a few jumping jacks, etc...It does help. The diet alone will get you to most of your goals, but the exercise will complete them.
  • Have To Drink A Lot Of Water - Honestly, this took some time to get used to, but if you are going to be on this plan, you are going to have to drink a lot of water. I was drinking about 64 oz of water every day. It helps the digestive system, which increases bowel movements, which helps eliminate waste, and which in turn, causes weight loss.
